Bauchi Speaker Lauds Workers, reaffirms commitment to Welfare

The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has commended workers across Bauchi State and Nigeria for their resilience, dedication and sacrifices as they joined others worldwide to mark the 2026 International Workers' Day.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the Speaker described workers as the engine room of development and the backbone of any successful administration.

He praised civil servants, teachers, health workers, security personnel and labour unions for their contributions to national growth, noting that their efforts remain central to building a productive and prosperous society.

“As lawmakers, we recognise that a motivated workforce is key to good governance. The Assembly will continue to partner with organised labour to ensure that workers’ dignity is upheld and that they receive the benefits they deserve,” Suleiman said.

He urged workers to remain professional, committed and patriotic in the discharge of their duties, assuring them that their concerns would continue to receive legislative attention.

The Speaker also called on employers in both public and private sectors to prioritise staff welfare through fair remuneration, promotions and recognition of excellence as a means of boosting productivity.

Suleiman further commended Bala Mohammed for policies aimed at making the state more worker-friendly and economically viable.

He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to enacting and amending laws that protect workers’ rights, improve conditions of service and ensure the timely payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities.
