Image
THE NATURE OF CHILD LABOUR IN NIGERIA BY AL'AMIN IBRAHIM. Child labour is a worldwide issue which damages the physical and mental development of children. It deprives children of their self-worth.  Many children work under exploitative conditions that have harmful effects on their health such as agriculture, mining, and economic activities such as domestic service, farming, street hawking, vendors, labourers, etc. Child labour should be abolished in the Some  part of Nigeria because children engaged in child labour expose themselves to conditions that can harm their health, personal growth and also interfere with their education.  The main purpose of this write up is to raise awareness that the way this children are made to work without giving them the chance to dream big and have a better future for themselves  Many of these children are exposed to long hours of work in dangerous and unhealthy environments, carrying too much responsibility for their age.  Child...

RESCUE NORTHERN NIGERIA FROM THE MENACE.

Image
RESCUE NORTHERN NIGERIA FROM THE MENACE. By Mercy Danjuma Insecurity has been described as the state of being unsafe and insecure. Northern Nigeria was at one time the bunion of peace, security and tranquillity. Time was when security challenges like, kidnapping, armed banditry, and other violent happenings were unheard of in the north. The north was known as the home of peace and tranquillity, from Sokoto to Maiduguri and from Katsina to Jos people in that area living peacefully with one another. Sadly however, the scenario seems to be changing to the worst. The problem started in 1990's with the emergence of an extremist groups, the Boko haram. The group disrupted the highest to existing peace which the north was known for. Various arguments were put forward as to the reason for the emergence of Boko Haram. However, all analysts are unanimous that the friendly poverty and hopelessness is responsible for this hydra headed monster. As while was grappling with Boko Haram, banditry a...

Is Girl child’s education really paramount?

Image
Is Girl child’s education really paramount? By Innocent Anthony Owuzechi Education is very paramount in all we do in this life but to my dismay tons of our parents don’t like sending their girl children to school and this brings a setback to our society and serious phenomenon. When you instil a knowledge to a girl child is like you give knowledge to the society entirely why because they are the one responsible in taking the task of parental care which can be link to family as the first agent of socialisation.  If your plans are  for one year plants rice, if your plans are for decades plants trees, but if your plans are for century educate girl child because she will instil it to the society in general not only herself.  Girl child’s education is very crucial and essential in life because we have tons of girl child that are out from school because they are being stop from going to school by their parents and guardians.  No society can develop without a help of...

Still on insecurity in northern Nigeria By Blessing Iliya People are being kidnapped almost everyday and no action in place, can we continue like that? Capital NO because we’re human and we have a right to live in this country but is like the right is no where to be found in this country.  Contrary to what happened recently concerning Haneefa a girl that being kidnapped by her school proprietor and demand some ransom from her parents one may say this situation at hand if otherwise it will be worst than it was before in this country.  This issue of insecurity is getting out of hand in this country every now and then lives are being lost but no any measure or set about by the authorities in charge to tackle such menace.  Haneefah is a 5 year old girl so what did she do to deserve such a terrible act? Nothing but because of the vested interest we inclined in us that’s what lead us to doing such terrible act but haneefa don’t deserve to be victim of this menace.  And als...

Image
INDECENT DRESSING AMOUNG CAMPUS STUDENTS. By Anas Dahiru Luti As the saying which says, people address you the way you dress. This means if one dress modesty, he would earn some respect in the society and the environment that he finds himself in it. Clothe is meant to be worn in other to cover our nakedness, cover our bodies from hash weather, cold and also to make us look good and presentable in the society. But so unfortunately, students dress in decently on campus, living parts of their bodies exposed, thereby making the school community to be unconducive for smooth running of academic activities. This act of in modesty have caused a lot of havoc in the society today, as results some students  are been either raped or been killed for rituals.   Indecent dressing is any dress put on by people that expose parts of their bodies to the public, or makes them looks u presentable to the people around them is indecent. Further more, it is a type of out fit that depict the cultural ...

A Media guru/Influencer and stronghold of the APC in Sanga LGA on Media,  Ngbo Adze Bernard might use the exit door from the APC, we gathered.  A  privy source who pleaded anonymity noted that the loyal Essayist who has been in the party since its inceptive merger might join the PDP in the coming weeks due to the party's poor welfare/appreciation of talents/loyalists. The unconfirmed moved is down to the young politician who is expected to react to this rumor and prove its authenticity or exaggeration. Roadmap For Power Holders

Image
Roadmap For Power Holders By: Olorumun Peter A good driver is one with power to change or control the affairs of public or any private settings. A power holder has the capability to influence the action and behaviour of others. Power can be acquired forcefully or sometimes naturally bestowed by God. Many leader forget that when they come to power and decided to misbehave. Many content vigorously  for the seat of power but reaching there, they find it  filled with catastrophic as they anticipate.  Power political, economic, charismatic, physical or social type. Whatever type of it is, the holder of power must bear in mind that power comes from God and is like shadow that pass out anytime. These are two point one may bear in mind power as a shadow and ephemerality of power. Many come to power not that they have political history to tell. For  instance, former president Olusegun Obasanjo come out of prison to become the president of federal republic of Nigeria. Dear pow...

Is Culture still paramount in Nigeria?

Image
Is Culture still paramount in Nigeria? By Fyakres Phillip Latu Culture is very paramount in human endeavour but how Nigerians abandon their culture is irritating and surprising because they failed to understand that culture seem to be the totality of way of life evolved by the people in an attempt to meet the challenge of living in their environment. Culture is shared this implies the cause of culture exemplifying “Social inheritance“ it is handed down from one generation to another and made meaningful and intelligibly acceptable to other members of the society but reverse is the case in our today’s world.  Culture is transmitted from one generation to another this made it vivid  that “all the past is here" This makes a role for sustainability where culture is preserved and survives into the future but even our parents of today abandoned their culture talk less of people of my generation. Culture is very crucial in humans life why because without culture we’ll not be able to k...

NO WHERE IS SAFE!

Image
NO WHERE IS SAFE! By Mary Bawa. Recently, more often than before, Nigeria has been trending on both local and international media over ceaseless kidnappings, banditry, robbery and other criminalities threatening the fabric of our social existence in the country. It is not longer a news that terrible and horrific things are happening day in day out in almost every part of the Country. While it is horribly compounded, it is aching that such a mess is happening in a country that has government on which security of lives and property is shouldered.  In Nigeria today, people  no longer travel in peace. Travelling by road, being the means of transportion by which the poor and the average man affords, is now becoming a safe heaven  for criminals.  What knocks your mind first is not even 'Accident' but rather the fear of being robbed or kidnapped. If you take the Abuja-Kaduna road, you get kidnapped. Travel from Borno to Yobe, you get kidnapped! Too numerous to mention. This...

We need a great Nigeria of our dream again!! By Adamu Umar Contrary to the issues bedevilling this country one may say some measures need to be put in place to tackle such problems that is baffling this country for a better Nigeria.  Nigeria is a great country that is blessed with wealthy materials but we lack good governance which I so much believed that we can overcome by the grace of the omnipresence God.  We need to change the bad happenings of this country to a better one because the electorates are suffering at this very situation by looking at the menaces this country is being facing from bad governance.  Unity-themed is very paramount in all we do in this life because every society that has unity it already set agenda for development of its members but to my dismay here in Nigeria unity is among the things we lack the most.  I so much want to see this country going forward every single day but tons of task need to be put in place for such acts because the cou...

Alan Waka: A unique trans-national singer

Image
Alan Waka: A unique trans-national singer    By Usman Abdullahi Koli It is true that music is a universal language. Alan Waka's song which has gone beyond the shore of Hausa speakers –to a across borders is point of reference in literary parlance. The fact that his songs center on societal ills and aim at bringing development to the nation, it has got a reason to be celebrated offshore. The feat one could ever achieve in his or her field of professionalism is recognised by many and taken as a role model by old and young ones.  Mostly, before one could reach the apex, he or she must have gone through lots of challenges that require endurance, consistency and patience. At times you would feel like dumping some idea at the embryo stage but doggedness results in making one popular, talented and extraordinary among other contemporaries. Aminu Ladan Abubakar, known as Alan Waka appeared unique in his style of music, he sings from heart considering the risk he takes in exposing ...

Family as the first agent of socialisation. By Abok Afan Igem  Family is the first agent of socialisation where parents teach their children a vary good conduct for them to be better humans in the society for other generation to follow. Nigeria is witnessing enormous challenges to the cause of insecurity, banditry, kidnapping Boko Haram and other social vices that need urgent control and we can fix all this by fixing our family we can fix a better society.  This adage reminds us that ”charity begins at home” this basically shows that if parents can try so much in giving their children best moral conduct we can uplift a better society.  Why not be a good person in the society since this shows the credits of your parents for training you to be good and kind in the society because morality is the best teacher in life. Good and bad child all come from a home so why not try and change the narration so that we will live without any act of destruction and criminalities in our so...
