Ibrahim Barwa:- The Right Son At The Right Time

Image
By: Muhammad Umar Shehu  Since the inception of the fourth, many leaders at State and Federal levels have come and gone, some are remembered for their job-well done while others are in their minds of many following the exasperating leadership bereft of substance they tormented the people with. Gombe State is seen as the epicentre of politics where a lot of well-bred politicians were hatched, challenges that obstruct speedy development in most communities as well as eagerness to bring transformations are what motivated not even trained young men contest during elections. Relationship with fellows, good managerial skills and open-heart that welcomes everyone irrespective of tribal or religious differences are few amongst the many qualities that made Ibrahim Barwa suitable for Akko central State House of Assembly under the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP). The power of youths and their participation in politics is the common wealth for the entire people of Akko Local Governme...

My sad journey through life!

Image
By: Prince Francis The excitement of joining my single mother in Zaria, Kaduna, was the beginning of a sad feeling. I literally lacked the support to enroll myself in a secondary school. It was thanks to my mother being a student on scholarship and still harbouring the pressure to train me in school herself. I completed primary school under the guidance and support of my grandmother, and at the time when my Uncle Ugochukwu returned home to take me with him back to Zaria, where he was schooling at that time and the city where my mother was. After we arrived at Zaria, I came to understand that I was now thrown into a new environment where their culture differed from the place I was born and started growing; everything there was so different to me, from their language, attire, religion, food, and many other things. That life I was living at the time was completely phased out. My mother wants me to experience a different life from the one I know in the village. She began by giving me ...

As citizens we must get it right

Image
By: Muhammad Umar Shehu  Nigerian politicians use religion and ethnicity to divide the populace of this country in a sense that the politicians and the elites belong to same class while we the masses i.e the working class are here fighting and attacking each other in the name of religion and ethnicity. By the way we’re fighting for them to achieve a certain objective or goal they have in mind. Have you ever witness a gathering of a Nigerian politician? If yes at least you have to ask yourself this question. Do they assume they’re from different religions and ethnicity? Nay, because the barrier they created at that moment is they are from the same class “political class” but we the fellow masses are here attacking each other by using the term religion and ethnicity. The theme election has ever meant diversity, not violence. No matter how bad elements manipulate it in achieving their selfish goals it will never be the reason to act violently or cause unrest among your neighbors rathe...

Image
Today in this country,  we're used to the word "No be by what you know, but who know" some said 3rd class degree and 1st class degree na still degree,  that it doesn't matter,  But it does!... I am in unique position to give a story to my children and anyone who would listen even tho the country is as it is now. November 2021 I answered the clarion call for my National Service at Gov't College K/Mashi Kaduna state. I contacted a few people and about 5 of them agreed to travel with me to Kaduna.  A journey of about 175km, yet dwell with so much inconveniences, it was the time the Abuja-Kaduna Express way was in a hot mess due to the incessant attacks by the armed bandits.  At last, The journey lasted roughly about 3hrs with no mobile network and 38 military checkpoints.  My 3 weeks camp experience was so superb,  I always wished that we could just stay in camp for the whole year without going to PPA. The Memories of Government College Kurmin Mashi,...

Deadlock as ASUU refuses to accept IPPIS in peace meeting with House

Image
By: Nigerian Daily Reporters  All entreaties to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to accept the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information system (IPPIS) as a platform for payment of lecturers fell on deaf ears during the peace move initiated by the House of Representatives to resolve the impasse between the striking lecturers and the Federal Government. In the third of a series of meetings at the instance of the leadership of the House on Thursday to broker peace, no agreement was reached. In the meeting that lasted about three hours it was an atmosphere filled with tension and emotion that led to raised voices and arguments that the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, tried to manage rising tempers. He said all stakeholders including the House were on one page...
